Mutton Bird Mix is an excellent raw feeding addition for dogs and cats, kittens and puppies. The Mix is a made up of organs, fats, bones and feet of the fabled mutton bird (Short Tailed shearwater).

  1. High in Protein: Mutton bird is an excellent source of protein, with each 100g serving containing around 24g of protein. Protein is essential for building and repairing tissues in the body, and it also plays a role in the immune system.

  2. Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Mutton bird is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential fats that our bodies cannot produce on their own. Omega-3s have been shown to have numerous health benefits, including reducing inflammation, improving heart health, and supporting brain function.

  3. Contains Vitamins and Minerals: Mutton bird is a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B12, iron, and zinc. Vitamin B12 is essential for healthy nerve and blood cells, while iron is important for carrying oxygen in the blood. Zinc is important for immune function and wound healing.

  4. Low in Fat: Mutton bird is relatively low in fat, with each 100g serving containing around 4g of fat. This makes it a good option for dogs who need to loose weight but still require nutritious meat.

"Mutton bird oil possesses an array of therapeutic benefits. Based on its high omega-3 fatty acid contents, including EPA and DHA, it was concluded that the consumption of 1 g oil per day would provide approximately 160 mg omega-3 fatty acids per day, thereby doubling a typical Australian’s omega-3 fatty acid intake" (Woodward et al. 1995).

Mutton bird can only be sourced during certain parts of the year, which makes it a rare food source. Super rich in essential nutrients including protein, minerals, vitamins and very rich in essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 DHA and EPA. This food source is a power house to include into your dog’s diet.

Mutton bird feeds mainly on krill therefore the Omega contents are very rich and are high in fatty acids and oil’s. The Iodine in the Omega 3 stimulates growth, increases weight and stamina, and not to go unnoticed, the unique ability to regulate body temperature and assist with health during cold winter seasons. The calcium content within the oil produces healthy flesh, bone, muscle and healthy strong teeth.

We source foods that are of ethical standards.  Mutton bird’s are legally harvested by Tasmanian Aboriginal birders as part of their tradition and culture, and are only conducted on Aboriginal owned islands along Bass Straight and Flinders Island. The harvest is only conducted once a year with sustainable practices in place which ensures the longevity and wellbeing of the Mutton bird’s into the future.
